James has worked in all aspects of theatre, including...


James has appeared in summer seasons at Scarborough YMCA Theatre. He enjoys performing in Summer Seasons as he can perform a wide range of singing, comedy and other acting skills. In YMCA's 2009 Summer Season, James sang such as "The Way You Make Me Feel" as well as singing in a "Swing Medley", "Las Vegas Mix" and much more. James also appeared in the "Knights Of The Round Table" and "Star Trek" Comedy Sketches. In the 2008 YMCA Summer Show, James performed as the ringmaster in the "Cirque du Soleil" inspired second half. James also performed in the hit comedy sketch "Men In Tights!" In past Summer Seasons, James has also performed in comedy routines such as "The Robin Hood Sketch", "The Church Sketch - Mr Bean" and the YMCA Spice Girls....... as Scary Spice!


James has been appearing in Pantomimes ever since he started performing, playing a variety of roles from the Dame to the Villain. His previous Panto appearances include, "Pinocchio", "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", "Cinderella", "Treasure Island" , “Aladdin” and others.


James appeared as Lumiere in Disney’s ‘Beauty and The Beast’ at Scarborough YMCA in Summer 2010.


James has appeared in various variety shows for companies including Scarborough YMCA Productions, Kay Carman Productions and Twilight Productions.


James produced, directed and performed in a show in May 2009, April 2010 and April 2011, "The Magic Of The Musicals”. James also presented ‘An Evening With James Aconley’ at St. Martins Church, Seamer near Scarborough, in September 2010 and February 2011 and James Aconley in Concert at Queen Street Central Hall in September 2011.


James has appeared in plays such as ‘The Miracle’ by Lin Coghlan as part of the Shell Connections 2006 Festival. He has also co-directed and appeared in ‘Burn’ by Deborah Gearing and a devised play ‘Passers By’ with Theatre at Lady Lumley’s.


James is also regularly asked by other companies/dance schools/theatres to appear as a guest singer for their shows. Previous events include "Variety School Of Dance", "Dance Explosions Stage Factory", "Scarborough Amateur Dramatics Society", "Scarborough Dance Centre", "Scarborough Samaritans", "Susan Richards", “Stagecoach” and others.
