Welcome to the home of James Aconley, Yorkshire based singer, actor, director and teacher working across the UK. Being involved in the entertainment industry for as long as he can remember, James is equally at home performing in theatres in North Yorkshire, in hotels across the country, at weddings and functions, and for corporate events.
He is also an established director and teacher, working with many different groups of people. More information can be found in the Work section of this website.
In October 2013, James was extremely proud to launch his own performing arts school for 4 to 18 year olds, The Pauline Quirke Academy York. TV actress Pauline Quirke opened her first Academy in 2007, and since then over 60 PQAs have opened across the UK. James is delighted to manage the York branch as the Principal. More information can be found at www.pqacademy.com.
James directed YMCA Productions' 2013/14 pantomime Sleeping Beauty at the Scarborough YMCA Theatre. After starting with the YMCA nine years ago in their pantomime ‘Pinocchio’, James has always been extremely thankful to the help and support from the YMCA.
James released a new album in April 2013, entitled 'Swing'. This CD features songs from swing legends, contemporary songs in a swing/jazz style and much more. Copies can now be ordered from the online shop.
From March to September, he went on tour for the second year with Simply Musicals! in Concert, which he also directs. This year's tour was an even bigger and better show than 2012. With the show brought a brand new recording from James and the cast of Simply Musicals! with a new cast album.
James has been back at Scarborough Open Air Theatre (the largest Open Air Theatre in Europe!) for the Free Summer Season Entertainment! He headlined the ‘Big Day Out!’ show. He was joined by Rebekah Kelly, Olivia Burke, Nathan Jenkins and the Scarborough Dance Centre Dancers.
Of course, he is performing his numerous cabaret shows at events and venues all over the country.
